How to Make a Cheese Board | Let’s Celebrate TV
There are no real rules when it comes to creating a cheese board! They can be neat and composed, or artfully messy, and the ingredients are limited only to your imagination. I like to use a minimum of three cheeses – a blue cheese, a sharp cheese, and a soft cheese. Laid out on a bed of greens or directly on a cutting board, it’s easy to fill in the gaps with dried fruits, nuts and crackers. Follow these simple tips and you’ll be able to make a cheese board with the best of them!
1. Choose the serving vessel – a large platter or cutting board, or even a piece of slate.
2. Consider putting down a bed of greens – Romaine or red leaf lettuce, or even shredded red cabbage.
3. Choose at least three cheese – blue cheese (Gorgonzola, Danish Blue, or even Stilton), sharp cheese (sharp cheddar or provolone), and a soft cheese (brie or spreadable goat cheese). You don’t have to limit to just three cheese, use however many you like.
4. Fill in the gaps with fresh and dried fruits, nuts, and crackers. Slices of English cucumbers make a great substitute for crackers. You can pair the fruits with the cheese, apples and sharp cheddar are a classic match.
5. Remember, there are no rules! This is where the word “Rustic” applies. Artfully messy piles of ingredients will come together to create a beautiful cheese board.
6. A cheese board can be an appetizer or even a dessert, served with a nice dessert wine or champagne.
