How to Make Hummus with Butter Beans – A White Bean Hummus
People love to have a snack of hummus and pita. Let me show you how to make hummus with butter beans instead of the traditional chick peas. Along with garlic, lemon, tahini and olive oil, butter beans make the hummus creamier and richer and a flavor you will want to keep coming back to over and over.
=== 🍽🍸🥩 RECIPE ===
2 – 15 ounce (429 g) cans butter beans, drained, liquid reserved
2 cloves garlic, finely grated
Zest and juice of 1 lemon
3/4 cup (190 g) Tahini
2 ounces (60 ml) Extra virgin olive oil, plus more for garnish
Salt & Pepper (white pepper preferred)
Combine beans, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice and tahini in the food processor. Season with salt and pepper. Blend into a thick paste. With the processor still running, drizzle in the olive oil. Blend until smooth. Note: if still too thick, add the liquid from the beans, a teaspoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
If desired, garnish with a drizzle of olive oil and sprinkling of chopped parsley or mint.
Served with warm pita or naan, and fresh vegetables.
