The Classic Rob Roy and the Maple Rob Roy – Smokey Manhattan Cocktails

Created in 1894 at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City, the Rob Roy is the smoky cousin of the Manhattan, made from blended scotch and sweet vermouth. The Maple Rob Roy is a more recent variation includes dry vermouth and pure maple syrup.

Classic Rob Roy
2 ounces (60 ml) blended scotch
1 ounce (30 ml) sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura bitters

Maple Rob Roy:
2 ounces (60 ml) blended scotch
1/2 ounce (15 ml) pure maple syrup
1/2 ounce (15 ml) dry vermouth
1/2 ounce (15 ml) sweet vermouth
3 dashes of Angostura bitters
Coktail cherry, for garnish

Combine in a cocktail shaker filed with ice. Stir well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry.
