Seared Tuna Steak Salad – No More Tuna from a Can!
Bored with the same old tuna salad sandwich? A good tuna salad doesn’t have to start with tuna from a can. My Seared Tuna Steak Salad uses fresh tuna that is pan seared then served with a dressing that packs a punch.
=== 🍽🍸🥩 RECIPE ===
2 – 8 oz. (226g) tuna steaks
2 stalks celery, diced
1 medium red onion, diced
4 oz. (234g) Mayonnaise
Juice of 1 lemon
Few dashes hot sauce
Salt & Pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Pat your tuna steaks dry with a paper towel. Season both sides liberally with salt and pepper.
Heat a cast iron or other heavy bottomed skillet over a high flame. Once hot, add the oil. As soon as the oil shimmers, carefully add each tuna steak. Cook for 1 minute on each side to just sear. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Once cooled, cut into 1/2 inch dice.
In a large bowl, add the tuna, celery, onions and mix gently, being careful to not break up the tuna too much.
To make the dressing, in another bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and hot sauce. Whisk to combine.
Combine the tuna mix and dressing by gently folding until combined. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Serve on your favorite bread, or on a bed of greens. Top with chopped parsley, and another squeeze of lemon if desired.
